ISBN’s newest member, Neroli Salon & Spa, has provided guests with an indulgent sanctuary of salon and spa services in the Milwaukee area for more than 20 years. From their intimate salon to aromatic, Asian-inspired treatment rooms, this world of serenity pampers guests, as the skilled team of professionals creates unique, personal experiences in hair, skin, nail, massage and Ayurveda offerings. Neroli’s newest service menu addition is a comprehensive list of advanced skin care treatments that incorporate medical-grade equipment to provide immediate results.
Neroli features six professional Aveda Lifestyle salon and spa locations, an Aveda Experience Center plus two cosmetology schools throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Founded in 1993 by Susan Haise, president, the company services about 150,000 guests per year and continues to grow.
As an Intercoiffure member hairdresser and a CIDESCO diplomat (the highest qualification globally in the esthetics industry), Haise brings a unique perspective to her company because she’s worked both behind the chair and in the treatment room.
“Unlike some businesses that specialize in specific departments, at Neroli, we continually educate our team on the newest trends and techniques by traveling to New York, Japan, India and Nepal and bringing world-class salon and spa educators in house,” she explains. “It has allowed us to continue to grow throughout the economic downturn‑a time when many companies closed the spa side of their business.”
Haise attended ISBN’s Conference several years ago. “I enjoyed my experience, and I’m back because as we grow, we are constantly looking for systems and solutions that contribute to the best operating practices,” she says. “We’re looking for those that will help us continue to grow here in southeastern Wisconsin and eventually, outside of our marketplace.”
As a school owner, Haise has a unique perspective on the industry’s labor pool and new talent. “It’s critical that our students are getting their first jobs with companies they want to stay with. We have a very high placement rate for our students,” she says. “We offer a 26-week hairdresser training program that combines technical training with customer service and other skills necessary to succeed in the salon. We also offer massage, nail design, CIDESCO and Ayurveda esthetic programs and even yoga teacher training.”
Adds Haise, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back at ISBN and for connecting and sharing with the group. I look forward to the conference and discussing salon and school operations strategies, and how we can ensure greater placement and outcomes for our students in our salons and spas, so they have long and fulfilling careers.”
